In 2007, I graduated with a Computer Science degree from Morehouse College and was anxious to start my career. There was only one problem: the computer science field is so vast that I didn't know exactly which area I wanted to pursue. That's where GEICO came into the picture. I saw an opportunity with the Emerging Leaders Program to rotate throughout the company, work with different technologies and projects, as well as gain a better understanding of business operations.

Since joining GEICO, I've rotated through five different teams and worked on more than 20 different projects to gain experience in infrastructure, enterprise application development, database systems, business process management and more. My experiences have not only been limited to various technologies, as I have also been engaged in corporate initiatives, community involvement and team leadership. I must say, my favorite aspects of GEICO are the opportunities for professional development, the involvement in the community and the proven stability of the company.

Every single day offers a new challenge and a new opportunity for growth. I plan to continue to develop my leadership, technical and business knowledge, and eventually move into an executive management position. With all of the professional development opportunities and my great mentors, I am excited about this journey called a career!

After completing my IT – New Media degree in just 3 short years at the Rochester Institute of Technology, I decided it was the right time to start working for a little guy known as the Gecko. It has always been my belief that the field of web development holds limitless opportunities for using today's newest technologies, and working at GEICO has allowed me to confirm this on a daily basis.

I joined GEICO as a web developer in July of 2010, and quickly realized that I'd be working in a fast paced environment much like my experience at RIT. Along with a handful of other developers and analysts, I update and maintain several of the company's websites – including GEICO.com, the GEICO blog, & even this very Careers page you are on right now!

Although the days of long-winded lectures and cramming are behind me, I continue to learn new things every day at this job. Working on a website that millions of people visit has provided me with an opportunity to employ the latest technologies, all while striving to maintain an optimal user experience. The web is considered to be a constantly evolving medium, and staying up to date with it is what keeps my career fun and challenging.

I work as a Programmer on the Mobile Development team, and am constantly working on something new and fun! GEICO has given me the opportunity to keep up with and work on the latest technology in the mobile industry. Each day I get to work with a diverse team on projects that really contribute to GEICO's growth and success.
