How do I apply?

Whether we meet you on campus or you find the internship posting online, we require that all candidates submit an online application via our Careers site to be considered. Be sure to select the office location that most interests you.

What is the application deadline?

Application deadlines may vary by location. Typically our application window opens in January. Please read the internship posting for the location that most interests you for more specific details.

Which majors are eligible to apply?

Within our regional locations, we generally recruit business and quantitative majors, including finance, economics, management, accounting, marketing, mathematics, risk management, insurance or related fields. Our Maryland corporate office recruits student with these majors, as well as computer science related majors.

I'm a Psychology major. Can I apply?

All applicants will be considered. However, due to the highly quantitative and analytical nature of our business and internship program structure, we strongly prefer business, math and computer science related majors.

If you have a different major, yet have taken core classes in business, please let us know in person, on your resume and/or within your online application.

Where do GEICO interns work?

For the summer internship program, we're hiring business-related majors in Buffalo, NY, Chevy Chase, MD (corporate office), Fredericksburg, VA, Macon, GA, Tucson, AZ and Virginia Beach, VA.

Technology-related internships are located at our corporate office in Chevy Chase, MD. Departments that typically hire IT interns include our Information Services and Systems Operations departments, HR Information Systems, Telecommunications, Help Desk and the Internet Business Unit.

Which department will I work in?

At our Maryland corporate office, IT interns work in a variety of departments (see above). Other departments that generally hire interns include Accounting, Communications, Underwriting and/or Public Affairs.

Interns in other locations (AZ, GA, NY and VA) are exposed to a variety of business operations including sales, customer service, planning, auto damage and/or claims. Your work within these departments is primarily project-based.

What can you tell me about the hiring process?

The first step is to submit an online application; once it is received, our team will review your information. First round interviews are typically conducted over the phone or in-person with one of our college recruiters. After further evaluation, some candidates may be invited for on-site interviews. Some offices may also conduct testing and role plays. Once you apply, we can provide more specific details.

Is there a GPA requirement to be an intern at GEICO?

Yes, we require at least a 3.0 overall GPA. Please read the detailed internship description for the location that most interests you for more information.

I'm a freshman (or sophomore). Am I eligible to apply?

I'm an international student. Am I eligible to apply for an internship?

Legal U.S. work authorization is required.

Does GEICO offer paid internships?

Can I receive college credit for being an intern at GEICO?

Students interested in receiving college credit for their GEICO internship experience will need to check with their university and/or advisor regarding requirements. Please discuss necessary requirements with your GEICO internship coordinator. We will do our best to work with you!
