The IBU Service Department develops and supports applications that enhance the policyholder experience on geico.com. My department affects GEICO by ensuring that the policyholder's experience with GEICO via the internet is a positive one. We are always looking for ways to better the geico.com website and to allow the customer to do more via the site...to make it more convenient for the customer.

As a Lead Programmer, I manage people, projects and resources related to the enhancement and maintenance of the Policyholder Service Center of the geico.com website. I like the people and challenges that I encounter each day. I also like the technological changes that affect the industry. Working at GEICO provided me the opportunity to learn and advance my career in technology. For instance, I started working at GEICO straight out of college working as a COBOL programmer. Today, I'm working with the latest java technologies as a lead programmer analyst in the IBU Service department and supervising a team of programmers. GEICO provides you with the opportunities for advancement and the ability to take on new challenges and learn new technologies.

My role as a lead programmer is to supervise, mentor and guide a team of Java developers.

My role as a lead programmer is to supervise, mentor and guide a team of Java developers. I coordinate my team's activities and work with team members to make sure they have everything they need to get their projects done.

As a member of the Internet Sales Business Unit, I am responsible for a team that builds and maintains internet applications that customers use to obtain a GEICO auto insurance quote and to purchase a new policy. We use state-of-the-art technology to make sure we give our customers the best possible experience, a quick response and an accurate rate.

GEICO has been successful at using new technologies to help grow our company and still provide a high level of customer service. Our workforce is very diverse, with employees hailing from all over the US and the world. This combination of diversity and technology makes this a great place for IT professionals. I like working with people and working with technology. In this job I get to do both. I also like that our projects and efforts are visible to the public and are used directly by our customers.

The department I work in is responsible for enhancing the online sales application to make it easier for customers to quote and buy their policies online.

The department I work in is responsible for enhancing the online sales application to make it easier for customers to quote and buy their policies online. I lead a team doing metrics and analysis on the customers' interactions with the website. We use this information to make decisions about how to change the website to make it easier for the customers to use. I like knowing that my work has a direct impact to the customers who use our website. Our analysis provides insights that lead to changes that the customer sees. No one enjoys shopping for insurance but hopefully we make the process on geico.com as easy as possible.

GEICO has a tremendous sense of community. The associates truly enjoy working for the company and really strive to make the insurance experience as easy as possible for the customers. I like being a part of a group of people who are really dedicated to their work. GEICO is a great company to work for. It's an exciting time to work for such a rapidly changing industry.
